Recycling CenterWe work hard to help you sustain your recycling efforts. The Republic Services/Allied Waste Houston Sort Center and Education Center are located at 5757 Oates Road. Together they provide an all-encompassing tutorial in the first steps of the recycling process. At the Houston Sort Center, papers, plastics, metals, and certain types of glass are sorted and prepared for shipping to mills and manufacturers across the globe. The company maintains extensive commodity partnerships around the world. Committed to recycling in the greater Houston area since the 1940s, the Republic/Allied team consistently proves its position as an industry leader in recycling technology. A $4 million upgrade to the Houston Sort Center is now underway. With the addition of optical sorters and high capacity balers, we will have the ability to process 27 tons of recyclable materials every hour—tripling our monthly capacity. The 29,000 square foot facility processes over 7,000 tons a month—more than 85,000 tons a year! Combined with our accomplishments in other centers nationwide, we are proud to remove four billion pounds of materials from waste stream every year. This material becomes available for reuse by all of us as consumers. Individuals and families can drop off recyclable materials—including light bulbs, e-waste and batteries.
Hours of operation: 7 am to 5 pm Monday-Friday and 8 am to 12 pm Saturday. |
