LEED Program

LEED ProgramDefinition: LEED is an internationally recognized green building certification system,  providing third-party verification that a building or community was designed and built using strategies aimed at improving performance across all the metrics that matter most: energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 emissions reduction, improved indoor environmental quality, and stewardship of resources and sensitivity to their impacts.

Established by the U.S. Green Building Council, LEED provides a concise framework for identifying and implementing practical and measurable green building design, construction, operations and maintenance solutions.

LEED’s philosophy and programs are an integral part of Republic/Southland's approach to saving energy and materials, recycling across the board, and protecting our environment.

According to LEED’s website, the overall program is flexible enough to apply to all lifecycles of all building types - commercial as well as residential. Also, LEED for Neighborhood Development extends the program’s benefits beyond the structure’s footprint into the neighborhood in which is located.

Our recycling team is made up of experts who are available to our customers—big and small—to help them maximize their recycling efforts. Please visit the U.S. Green Building Council to learn more.
